NY Firms a Great Place to Work

Accounting Today has released its annual list of the 100 best firms to work for in the country—and nine of them are in New York.

Of the 50 winners in the small-firm category (15-49 employees), three were in New York. In the midsized category (50-249 employees), four of the 45 winners were Empire State firms. And New York particularly dominated in the large category (250+ employees), with two out of five winners based in New York.
 
The New York winners were spread geographically, from New York City and its suburbs to upstate and Western New York.
 
To enter, firms had to complete an employer survey, which accounted for 25 percent of the overall firm score, and an employee survey, which accounted for 75 percent. Benefits and internal programs were important in the final score, but intangibles such as corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction and supervisor relationships also affected a firm's ranking.
