Richard E. Piluso Installed as NYSSCPA President at Election Dinner

Richard E. Piluso, a CPA who spent most of his 40-year career in industry, was installed as the new NYSSCPA president at the Society’s 114th annual Election Meeting and Dinner held at the NewYork Marriott Marquis at Times Square on May 19 in New York City. (Continue)

QROC Holds First Meeting

New York state’s Quality Review Oversight Committee (QROC) -- the Board of Regents–appointed, fivemember body that will oversee the state’s mandatory quality review review program that goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2012 -- met for the first time in Albany on June 7 to discuss the basic purpose, structure and functions of the committee. NY Moves Closer to Mobility

In a milestone vote for New York's accountancy profession, the New York State Assembly on June 20 passed the Senate's conforming cross-border practice mobility bill, S2628-A. After passing in the Assembly, the bill was returned to the Senate for delivery to the governor. Before the bill can become law, it must be considered and approved by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. (Continue)
