IRS Files Lien against Marion Barry
The IRS has issued a lien against former Washington D.C. mayor and current council member Marion Barry in order to collect some $15,000 worth of unpaid taxes. According to the Washington Post, the beltway politician owes $649 from 2005; $4,907 from 2006; $8,679 from 2007; and $1,022 from 2008. All this while still on probation for failing to pay taxes on some $500,000 worth of income collected between 1999 and 2004.
Rumors that Barry may be the subject of an upcoming reality TV show, with all the entailing drama and pageantry, have recently surfaced, though one is forced to wonder whether the politician’s trials and tribulations may soon make such a show redundant.
